EWS can provide temporary cover for the management of all waste facilities including waste transfer, treatment and landfill in the Hazardous, Non-Hazardous and Inert Classifications.

All EWS professionals hold Level 4 Certificates of Technical Competence (COTC) in a variety of disciplines and are experienced Waste Managers in their own right. Commonly referred to “COTC cover”, Technically Competent Management (TCM) can be supplied to our clients to cover periods of holiday, sick leave or any other reason.  It is a legal requirement that all permitted sites must have a nominated Technically Competent Manager (COTC holder) in attendance for an agreed percentage of operational hours.  Failure to do so could result in the Environment Agency issuing a non-compliance against the site, which will prove costly to your annual fees payable to the Agency. From 1 April 2019, all sites will have to provide the details of their nominated COTC holder on their Quarterly Waste Returns.

In addition to COTC cover, EWS can also provide the following services during periods of cover:

    • Environmental compliance inspection report. This will help you gauge how you are performing against current legislation and you Environmental Permit conditions. This is part of any ongoing cover work.
    • Provide training support to help one of your own staff achieve their own Statutory Qualification enabling you to take back the TCM role.
    • Deliver bespoke training to enable staff to understand environmental compliance and the regulation and legislation that must be conformed with.
    • Consultancy on a wide range of waste and environmental topics including changes to your current Environmental Permit or solutions to environmental and waste management issues.
